Memorial Day weekend 2002. Ronnie attended a seminar in Columbia, SC for a week and then
on Thursday I joined him. We rented a car and toured the city and made the rounds to several nightclubs and
night spots that night. The next morning we drove to Myrtle Beach to frolick with the Shag dancers on the
Atlantic Ocean beach. We shut down the clubs every night, slept late and hung out on the beach all day. What
a GREAT vacation! This was one of our vacations that we didn't have a dance competition. This area
is the home of some of the best Shag dancers in the United States. We just did our West Coast Swing to their beach
and Shag music and got rave reviews by the Shaggers.

Myrtle Beach runs along the Atlantic coast of South Carolina and has many nice hotels, condos,
clubs, great restaurants, an amusement park and many golf courses.

North Myrtle Beach, SC is the home of Shag dancing...actually, Shag
is the official state dance of South Carolina. The water tower has a silhouette of a couple of shag dancers with
the words..."Home Of The Shag." And no matter if you are in one of the many famous nightclubs on Ocean Drive, on
the beach, in one of the many gift shops or at Judy's House of Oldies Record Shop you will see Shag everywhere in this ocean
side city. Ocean Drive Resort Hotel, where we stayed, has the Shagger's Hall of Fame...just a great tribute to Shaggers
over the past 50-60 years.
