Munich has many old churches and buildings, and many of them have
a clock on top.

Check out the intricate details of the buildings. You could stand
in one place in the middle of Marien Platz and take many photos and see something interesting in every shot.

| A building without a clock? |
Outside Marien Platz is this outdoor ice rink. The little dancing
bears in the photo help the kids (and adults...) learn to iceskate. We just watched on the side. This was mid-afternoon
in January where the sun goes down fairly early in the day. Multi-colored lights highlight the skaters.

Marien Platz is the main plaza in Center City Munich. Surrounded by old
century churches, government buildings & shops. This is not downtown, but everyone knows where Marien Platz is located.

This outdoor ice arena was complete with an open-air bar where we enjoyed
the best beer and brats as we watched the iceskaters. What a fun afternoon in Munich after a morning of sightseeing.

1972 Olympic Stadium in Munich, Germany. Very interesting structure.
This complex is still in use today.
1972 Olympic Village where athlethe's lived during the event. It
was in this complex where several Israeli atheletes were killed by Arab terrorists.

Many wonderful old buildings & monument towers all over Munich.
These are located in or near Marien Platz. Lots of shopping as well. The photo above was taken about 3pm when
the sun was setting for the January day.

We took the night "sleeper" train from Amsterdam to Munich and arrived
about 7am. That was an interesting experience that you just need to do when traveling in Europe. However, we have
some pointers if you decide to try it. Experience is a good teacher...
