A little bio on Ronnie &
Kathy...
We met in one of
Don Cheshire's dance classes in 1989. About four weeks into the class Don gave
us free tickets to a local club to see a new country singer. Don said the guy
had a new song on the radio, but he was no George Strait. We sat all night at
Nowhere But Texas, a North Dallas Club, in awe of the smooth country dancers and wanted to learn how to dance like
that. The singer was a newcomer named Garth somebody. Oh, Garth Brooks was the guy's name!
But it really became
evident we were into this dance thing when another instructor, Steve Giles, told us about a dance event over Labor Day weekend
called Dallas D*A*N*C*E, that was 1991, and nothing has been the same since.
We consider ourselves
a normal couple who have 9-5 jobs. We like to travel, listen to music, hang out with our family and friends and occasionally
we take on a home improvement project. A lot of the traveling we do is to dance competitions, but we consider that normal.
You can usually find us near the CD player, on the practice floor at home, at Home Depot, Walmart or the local dancehall.
However, our hobby takes up most of our spare time and that is dancing.
In addition to
dancing, we have also taken up golf. Ronnie played golf in college and of course has a set of clubs and said everyone
on the golf course must have their own clubs - so guess what Ronnie bought Kathy on Ronnie's birthday. Yes, her own
set of golf clubs! Kathy is working on keeping her left arm straight, her head down and eyes on the ball...don't
bend the left knee, keep those wrists straight and let the club do the work...and most of all relax and have fun...!
Four easy lessons and she will be out there on the links with the pros...Tiger, look out. This sounds very familiar...like
the four easy dance lessons that we started with years ago.
